Encounter Installation

History is unmade by way of three interconnected projected, interactive and sonic installations that together interrogate the different forms of historical and contemporary encounters with Martinique through the exploration of historical artefacts, ephemera, photographs, everyday objects and recently filmed video and sonic recordings.

Together Gary Stewart and Trevor Mathison create imaginative and innovative projects that explore social and political issues.

Our practice is based on close collaboration with other artists, institutions, audiences and participants.

We create work which emerges from our direct response to the specific site and environment incorporating historical as well as contemporary material and content.
